Ordained Ministerial Partner Standing with the United Church of Christ
The partnership relationship between the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the United Church of Christ provides their clergy unique opportunities to have access to one another's Search and Call systems as well as serving congregations in each tradition.  These professes are governed by the Ministry Manuals, Policies and Criteria documents, and respective Ministry Committee procedures (Regions for the Disciples and Associations for the UCC).

One critical standard that must be met is "understanding of and appreciation for" the History and Polity of the respective denomination in which one wishes to serve.  The standards vary, but generally if a minister has completed an approved History and Polity course then expectations are met.

CCIW offers an intensive CC/DoC History and Polity course every even-number summer.  Attendance at it meets the expectations for UCC Clergy seeking Ordained Ministerial Partner standing (as well as for licensed ministers, students under care and any other interested person clergy or lay).

Similarly, the UCC offers a national History and Polity experience, often around their national General Synod meeting.  This will be true in 2006.  Two such courses are described below for any interested Disciples clergy desiring OMP standing.

Sponsored by Hartford Seminary June 13-24

The Summer Institute is designed as a two-week experience primarily for those needing basic work in United Church of Christ history, theology and polity.  Co-sponsored by Andover Newton Theological School and Bangor Theological Seminary, the sessions will be held at Hartford Seminary in Hartford, CT.  For more information and a complete program brochure contact Karen Rollins, Registrar at (860)509-9511 or through email at :  krollins@hartsem.edu

Sponsored by Eden Theological Seminary June 26-July 8

This will be taught by Dr. Marilyn Stavenger and Dr. Rollin Russell and include some advance reading assignments.  Class sessions will be held at Candler School of Theology in Atlanta, where General Synod is being held.  For further information and registration, visit the website link at:
