Gifts For All Generations

A 3-year Capital Campaign

seeking over and above gifts

in Illinois & Wisconsin

Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)

As the people of God, we have been so richly blessed by all who have come before us and established our congregations. Now, it's our chance not only to give back but to "give forward" to the coming generations. We can do that by joining with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Illinois & Wisconsin in a 3-year capital campaign to raise $2,250,000 to benefit a variety of "units" within the life of our denomination and our CCIW Region.

Camp Walter Scott Capital Improvements

It's a proven fact that a summer church camping program changes lives. Many ministers point to their early experiences at camp as a pivotal point in making a decision to become a minister. Adults on retreats also report "mountain-top" experiences while at the Camp. Our campaign has several improvement on tap scheduled to be completed by the summer of 2004 or spring 2005.

The new retreat center scheduled to be constructed with monies from the CCIW Capital Campaign.
Part of the $350,000 set aside for Camp Walter Scott has been ear-marked to complete installation of an elevator in the Lodge/Dining Hall. This will help make that facility handicapped accessible and meet safety requirements.

Another part of the funds has been ear-marked for the remodeling of the large former maintenance building into more sleeping and program accommodations. This new facility will house 5 sleeping rooms, hold 20-25 people for programs or small retreats, a community area for programming and a small kitchenette with a microwave and refrigerator. Plans are to have this project completed by the fall of 2004.

The campaign dollars you donate are also working to provide the youth of the CCIW Region with remarkable, life-changing experiences that foster spiritual growth as well as social skills. Adults who have served as camp counselors for many years testify to the wonderful changes they have observed taking place with our young people. Consider spending time this summer making a difference in the life of our youth by serving as a camp counselor.

For more information about Camp Walter Scott or how you can become a counselor, contact the CCIW Regional Office at 309-828-6293.

Making a difference is a wonderful legacy for future generations.
