Gifts For All Generations
A 3-year Capital Campaign
seeking over and above gifts
in Illinois & Wisconsin
Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) |
 |
| As the people of God, we have been so richly blessed by all
who have come before us and established our congregations. Now, it's our
chance not only to give back but to "give forward" to the coming
generations. We can do that by joining with the Christian Church
(Disciples of Christ) in Illinois & Wisconsin in a 3-year capital
campaign to raise $2,250,000 to benefit a variety of "units"
within the life of our denomination and our CCIW Region.
Ministries in Higher Education
$325,000 |
| The Disciples Divinity House at the University of Chicago
is our Disciples seminary in Illinois. Our gift of $75,000 will
provide scholarships for seminary students and ministers in continuing
education. |
| The impact that DDH has on the lives and careers of
students is profound. The house becomes a place to think, to wonder, to
study, to dream. It is a place where faith grows, questions are asked and
friendships are formed. Since its founding in 1894, hundreds of students
have lived within its limestone walls. During the 2002-2003 school year,
26 House Scholars will carry on the tradition of excellence that is
Disciples Divinity House.
Jamie Polson, a 2002 M.Div. graduate students says "DDH helped
me discern my call to ministry while providing a foundation through
community, scholarship, and spirituality. DDH will always remain part of
me and my call to ministry." |

and Thought class is taught and discussed.)

|
| Michael
Karunas, DDH Alumni and now pastor of First
Christian Church in Centralia, Illinois writes, "All that I do,
specifically the way I view the nature, mission, and purpose of the
church, is influenced by the University of Chicago. It was there that I
learned how to think critically, broadly and constructively."
Sandhya Jha, a second year ministry student and House Scholar, reflects
on her first year at DDH: "I'm not sure how I would have survived
this year without the support network and the sounding board that is DDH.
