 Disciples women from 44 states joined with their international sisters and other guests at the 14th Quadrennial Assembly to celebrate God's presence among them and the unique gifts that women contribute to church life. The June 23-27 event in Greensboro, N.C. offered opportunities for worship, Bible study, community projects, and fellowship. The conference theme was "Awake! Awake" (taken from Judges 5:12a). Over 1800 women attended the assembly which takes place every four years. Attendees also included 76 men, 40 young people between the ages of 11 to 17 and 20 international guests. There are two choices of study materials for Disciples Women this coming year: Just Women Magazine or New Day for Christians.
 Just Women Magazine has been published by the International Disciples Women Ministries and Disciples World magazine. Though Disciples World has ceased publication, the International Disciples Women Ministries (IDWM) will continue the Just Women magazine. You may purchase it as an annual subscription for 4 issues - one each quarter. The Winter, Summer, and Fall issues are set up for three sessions that you can use for three monthly meetings. The Spring issue is a Bible study that is set up for 9 sessions - you can use three sesions for your monthly meetings and the other six sessions as a weekly Bible study during church school hour or whatever you choose.  New Day for Christians, One Person Can Make a Difference!, is published by Christian Board of Publication (Chalice Press) and is similar to the New Day materials that you have used the last several years, except that they are now for all small groups (men and women). Christian Board and Global Ministries are working together to produce these materials with a mission emphasis. You can purchase these materials from the Chalice Press website at: http://www.chalicepress.com/New-Day-C133.aspx
The Leader's Guide for New Day is available only online as an E-book - which means you purchase the right to download it to your computer. You will need to also download the Adobe Digital Edition software in order to read the Guide - the software is free. |

General Programs are available from the Office of Disciples Women website: www.discipleswomen.org Click on "General Programs" on the left side of the screen; then scroll through the listing of General Programs for the ones you want. You may print these free from the website.
The General Programs are being developed on a calendar year basis rather than a study year basis. Therefore, you should look for the programs for 2010 or 2011. The Thanksgiving & Christmas 2010 programs are not up yet, but will be soon. Then the 2011 Easter and Installation Programs will be put up later this Fall. The Mission Program to go with the Just Women mission for 2010-1011 is on the website. The information for the mission study for the New Day for Christians is available in the Leader's Study Guide for New Day for Christians, available from the Chalice Press website. |
